About Me

Leanna Niesen (she/her) is a stage manager with experience in technical theatre, choreography, and theatrical intimacy. Originally from Wisconsin, Leanna has been passionate about creating theatre from a young age. In Wisconsin, she has worked as a Stage Management Fellow for Children’s Theatre of Madison, and has stage managed and assistant stage managed various productions at Capital City Theatre.
She graduated from Muhlenberg College with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Dance with concentrations in Stage Management and Choreography. Throughout her education, she had the opportunity to stage manage a diverse range of projects, including dance productions, small plays, large-scale musicals, student-produced work, and devised pieces. In addition to her work as a stage manager, she choreographed Muhlenberg Theatre and Dance’s production of Local Girls, choreographed an original work for Reset: New Dances, and worked as intimacy director for a student-directed production of Fun Home.
Leanna is currently based in the Boston area, where she has been working as a freelance stage manager, technician, and intimacy director. Recent stage management credits include The Spitfire Grill (Umbrella Arts), Fucking A (Boston Conservatory), Noises Off (Lyric Stage Company), Lysistrata, Of Thee I Sing & Let Them Eat Cake (Odyssey Opera), and The Hombres, Wipeout (Gloucester Stage Company).
